Description

The third in a new series of classic marches transcribed for brass sextet, Radetzky March, Op. 228, was originally composed by Johann Strauss Sr. and dedicated to Field Marshal Joseph Radetzky von Radetz. First performed on 31 August 1848 in Vienna, it soon became popular among regimented marching soldiers. Strauss was commissioned to write the piece to commemorate Radetzky’s victory at the Battle of Custoza.

The march is arranged by William Gordon so that all the important elements from the original are maintained, and will be ideal for smaller groups where fielding a full band is not possible. The flexible instrumentation means it will be playable by a wide range of instruments, and comes with optional drum set part.
